Steve Patterson and Pennie Embry had the pleasure of meeting with folks from Choctaw Nation Environmental Services at the Eufaula Wetland Park last week. It was a beautiful, sunny day–a great day to be out enjoying the wetland. It was dry (thanks on-going drought!) and though turning brown, there was still plenty of green and much to see. We discussed the story of how the wetland was conceived and created, key concerns the wetland was designed to address, and current maintenance efforts. The group had lots of good questions for us to discuss–we talked water quality, wildlife, wetland botany. Any day is a good day in the wetland, but having knowledgeable, interesting, fun visitors makes it even better!
